Hunting Regulations Changes: Proposed or Recently Approved

HUNTING REGULATIONS

The purpose of hunting regulations is to manage Georgia’s game birds and game animals according to principles of sound wildlife management and to meet public objectives for use of these renewable natural resources.

PROPOSED REGULATIONS:

  • Proposed Regulations: These proposed changes affect rules pertaining to permit requirements for hunting deer with dogs; pursuit of bears with dogs on wildlife management areas, other state lands, and federal wildlife areas; wildlife management area trout streams; public fishing areas; and the Georgia outdoor recreation pass.  Proposed changes to the existing rules reflect the need to achieve consistency with statutory changes associated with HB 208 (License Fee Bill). Interested persons who would like to submit comments may do so HERE by May 31, 2017.
  • Proposed Hunting Regulations 2017-2018 and 2018-2019: Three Public Hearings were scheduled re: these proposed regulations. The comment period for these proposed regulations closed on April 21, 2017.
