Educators: Sign Up for July Wildlife Workshop

MANSFIELD, Ga. (6/4/2014)

Those who educate know that opportunities for learning don’t cease during summer break.  In fact, that is a great time to strengthen teaching skills in new areas!

If you are looking to initiate or increase knowledge about wildlife conservation and its instruction, make plans to attend the Outdoor Wildlife Leadership School, or OWLS, scheduled for July 14-18, 2014 at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center.  This workshop will focus on wildlife conservation for both K-12 and non-formal educators.

Workshop participants will spend five days immersed in Georgia wildlife education via activities and day trips, such as birding, canoeing, and bog exploring.  Additionally, spend time learning basic conservation biology concepts and field techniques that can be used with students in and out of the classroom.  Finally, participants will be trained as Project WILD (www.georgiawildlife.com/projectwild) facilitators and given curriculum guides.

The workshop will begin Monday (7/14) at 2:30 p.m. and last through Friday at 1 p.m.  Workshop cost is $100 and covers meals, training materials and a room for four nights.  Attendees will stay at the Charlie Elliott Conference Center.

Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center (www.georgiawildlife.com/charlieelliott) is located near Mansfield, less than an hour southeast of Atlanta off Interstate 20.  The address is 543 Elliott Trail, Mansfield 30055.

To register for this workshop, call 770-784-3059.
