Make Plans to Visit Go Fish Center, Santa to Arrive Saturday!

PERRY, Ga. (12/8/2014)

Everyone likes to fish, even Santa!  The North Pole will have to wait, because Santa is traveling down to Perry for some fishing at the Go Fish Education Center before his big night!

Do you want to fish with Jolly Old Saint Nick? Then make plans to visit Go Fish on Saturday, Dec. 13.  Santa will arrive at 1 p.m.  However, you can come earlier and enjoy the center and participate in a special activity from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. where you can create your own fishing lure!  Lures can be created for $3 each (cash only).  Pre-registration is appreciated (call 478-988-8000), but not required.

Can’t get there this weekend?  No worries, the kids will soon be out for the holidays and the Go Fish Center is just the thing to keep them busy on a day out from school.  Holiday hours for the center will be as follows:

  • Regular operating hours: Fri. Dec. 19-20 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.), Sun. Dec. 21 (1 p.m. – 5 p.m.)
  • Special holiday hours: Mon. Dec. 22 – Tues. Dec. 23 (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
  • Closed: Wednesday-Friday, Dec. 24-26
  • Regular operating hours: Sat. Dec. 27 (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.), Sun. Dec. 28 (1 p.m. – 5 p.m.)
  • Special holiday hours: Mon. Dec. 29 – Tues. Dec. 30 (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.)

As if fishing with Santa and extended holiday hours weren’t enough, the center is offering another holiday fishing treat. Trout from the Go Fish hatchery have been stocked in the center’s fishing pond and are ready to be caught! Hybrid bass, catfish and bluegill are also available.

All fishing is catch and release, and anglers 16 and older must have a fishing license. Licenses can be purchased online at www.georgiawildlife.com/licenses-permits-passes, by phone at (800) 266-3661 or at the Go Fish Education Center.  Rods, tackle and bait will be provided. All you need to do is get ready to reel ‘em in!

Regular admission applies for all special events. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors 65 and older, $3 for children and FREE for ages 2 and younger. For more information on the Go Fish Education Center, visit www.gofisheducationcenter.com or call (478) 988-8000.
