Next week, on April 19, it will be 242 years to the day when the “Shot Heard ‘Round the World” was fired in the pre-dawn light in Lexington, MA, between the colonial militia and British army, regarded as the start of the American Revolutionary War. How can you mark that day? Visit one of six (6) Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) staffed public shooting ranges! Shooters on this day will receive a sticker and have their name entered into a drawing for prizes.
“We are always looking for information to help excite people about shooting sports,” said Walter Lane, hunter development program manager for the Wildlife Resources Division. “The ‘Shot Heard ‘Round the World Day’ provides a fun opportunity to remind people about an important historical event coupled with the opportunity to enjoy time with family and friends at one of our staffed shooting ranges.”
Georgia shooting ranges participating in the “Shot Heard ‘Round the World” event include:
WRD offers multiple public firearm (with varying range lengths), archery ranges (static targets, 3-D targets), and a shotgun range. In many cases, staff or volunteers are there to help.
